Things to Keep in Mind While Inspecting Terrace Plants

Things to Keep in Mind While Inspecting Terrace Plants

1. Check the condition of the leaves:
Green and shiny leaves: The plant is healthy.
Yellow or scorched leaves: Could indicate nutrient deficiency, overwatering, or sunburn.
Spots or insects on leaves: Might be a sign of fungal, bacterial, or pest infestation.

2. Check soil moisture and condition:
If the soil is too wet, roots may rot. If it's too dry, the plant may weaken.
Soil should be loose and porous so water and air can reach the roots.

3. Presence of pests and insects:
Check under the leaves – there might be eggs or insects.
If you notice ants, aphids, whiteflies, or small bugs, take necessary action.

4. Condition of flowers and fruits:
Observe the size, color, and number of flowers and fruits.
If flowers are falling or fruits are dropping, it could be due to water, nutrition, or weather issues.

5. Support and direction of climbers:
Ensure that climbing plants are properly supported.
Make sure they are not spreading over and covering other plants.

6. Check for water drainage:
Ensure there is no water accumulation in pots.
Every pot should have a drainage hole.

7. Dry leaves or branches:
Remove dry or dead leaves/branches to promote new growth.

8. Pay attention to fertilization and nutrition:
Check when fertilizer was last added.
Apply organic fertilizers (like vermicompost or cow dung manure) regularly.
